MATRIX STEAME Mix Day Camps
STEM+ARTS+Entrepreneurship= STEAME
For Students Ages 7–11
MATRIX STEAME offers 1 day or multi-day, hands-on Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics and Entrepreneurship (STEAME) experience for students ages 7–11.
MATRIX is first in Edmonton to offer STEAME program that is inspired by real space missions, innovation and tech entrepreneurship that puts students in the role of Canada’s next generation of scientists, engineers, innovators and entrepreneurs.
Hosted at MATRIX STEAME located at Whitemud Business Park with convenient access to Gateway Blvd and Whitemud Dr., this immersive program builds teamwork, problem-solving, and critical thinking through exciting, real tech-themed, project-based challenges.

Applied Science & Engineering Design
Campers explore scientific principles through hands-on experimentation and construction. From simple machines to structural design challenges, they engage in real-world problem-solving using materials, measurements, and critical thinking to bring their ideas to life. Every project reinforces core STEAME concepts while encouraging curiosity and resilience.
Age 7-11: OCT 6-10
What we explore together
Hands-On Engineering & Simple Machines
Campers dive into creative building challenges using the core principles of simple machines—levers, pulleys, wheels, and more—to bring science, technology, and engineering to life through real-world problem solving.
Terrain Mapping & Earth Observation
By studying real-world landscapes, campers create and decorate mock-up terrain models, developing spatial thinking and observational skills while exploring Earth science and remote sensing concepts.
Journaling, Numeracy & Design Reflection
Daily journals combine literacy and numeracy as campers document their ideas, record measurements, reflect on design improvements, and track their progress through trial and error.
Lunar Mission & Resource Sustainability
Campers simulate lunar exploration by learning how to use limited resources through In-Situ Resource Utilization (ISRU). They work in teams to plan, build, and test structures or missions fit for the Moon!
Entrepreneurial Assembly
In our final assembly, campers present their innovations and prototypes to other teams. They learn the essentials of a compelling pitch: clear communication, problem-solution fit, and confident storytelling.

PROGRAM ACTIVITIES

Applied Science & Engineering Design
Campers explore scientific principles through hands-on experimentation and construction. From simple machines to structural design challenges, they engage in real-world problem-solving using materials, measurements, and critical thinking to bring their ideas to life. Every project reinforces core STEAME concepts while encouraging curiosity and resilience.

Art, Creativity & Innovation
We believe creativity is the engine of innovation. Campers express their ideas visually through sketching, model-making, and design decoration. They blend artistic vision with technical thinking whether they’re illustrating their lunar terrain, crafting custom features for their builds, or imagining futuristic habitats and tools.

Team Building
Through collaborative challenges, group games, and cooperative missions, campers learn to work as a team, practicing communication, empathy, leadership, and active listening. These sessions help build trust, encourage peer learning, and prepare them for real-world teamwork in engineering, science, and entrepreneurship.

Design Reflection & Scientific Reporting
Every innovation is backed by thoughtful analysis. Campers develop habits of observation and reflection by documenting their designs, noting improvements, and writing about their process. Using journals, sketchbooks, and short reports, they learn to communicate their thinking like real scientists and engineers.

Public Speaking & Innovation Pitching
Great ideas deserve to be shared! In this session, campers learn the fundamentals of public speaking, how to speak with clarity, confidence, and purpose. They prepare and deliver short presentations or “innovation pitches,” practicing how to articulate their design, explain its function, and inspire others with their vision.

ABOUT THE FOUNDER

Parisa Haji, PhD, P.Eng
Dr. Parisa Haji is a visionary engineer, inventor, and entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience in civil engineering. She is the CEO and Co-Founder of Matrix GEMINI, where she leads pioneering work in modular and sustainable infrastructure for remote and extreme environments—both on Earth and on the Moon.
Parisa is also the driving force behind Matrix STEAME, an initiative that empowers the next generation through hands-on experiences in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math, and Entrepreneurship. Her mission is to bridge classroom learning with real-world impact, inspiring curiosity, creativity, and confidence in young minds.
Since 2011, Parisa has been a contributing member of the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code Committee (CSA), shaping national standards for structural engineering. From 2018 to 2022, she also served as academic staff in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Alberta, where she mentored future engineers in both research and applied design. Her career now extends into space exploration: under Matrix GEMINI, she is spearheading the design of a Lunar Habitat prototype aligned with the Canadian Space Agency and NASA’s Artemis mission, integrating geocomposite materials, 3D printing, and robotic construction.
An active advocate for innovation and an entrepreneur at heart, Parisa also holds a certificate in Innovation & Entrepreneurship from the University of Alberta School of Business, and Space Studies certificate from the International Space University. She serves on the Board of Directors for TiE Women Canada, supporting and funding women-led startups across the country.
Passionate about giving back, she volunteers with schools, APEGA Science Olympics, and organizes STEM activities. Her philanthropic work includes contributing to the solar panels installation project in remote communities in the Philippines and, most recently, running a half marathon to raise funds for CASA Mental Health.
As a proud mother of two, Parisa brings her passion for engineering, space, and education together in every aspect of her professional and personal life; connecting space exploration, sustainable infrastructure, and STEM+Arts+Entrepreneurship education to inspire the leaders of tomorrow.
