A hands-on Edmonton STEM summer camp where kids ages 8-12 learn the same engineering ideas working on humanity's return to the Moon - and build their own missions to prove it.
Build the Moon Base is an Edmonton STEM camp and interactive learning module that introduces 8-12 year-olds to the new emerging industry in space: Lunar Construction & Space Mining. Kids explore six fundamental concepts working engineers use every day.
The big picture: what's driving humanity back to the Moon.
Learn about the Moon and the Artemis Mission
Building with what's already on the Moon - no shipping required.
Two ways to build a home in space. Which one wins?
Future of Construction- on Earth and Beyond.
Engineering things that last - on the Moon and on Earth.
Jeremy Hansen just made history as the first Canadian to travel around the Moon during the Artemis II mission - a major milestone for Canada in space exploration.
On March 24, 2026, NASA unveiled a bold new lunar strategy at its Ignition event, reportedly redirecting approximately $20 billion toward establishing a permanent Moon base - signaling a major shift from orbital infrastructure to sustained human presence on the lunar surface.
The kids in this camp are the engineers who will live, work, and build there.
"NASA is committed to achieving the near-impossible once again, to return to the Moon... build a Moon base, and establish an enduring presence."- Jared Isaacman

Every camp day follows the same engineering rhythm - taught by working professionals.
Expert-led sessions introduce learners to space, Earth and its resources, the Moon and its environment - followed by a Moon habitat mission brief.
Learners apply their knowledge by:
Theoretical and practical tasks designed to:
By the end of camp, every young engineer has tackled six skill areas that will serve them well beyond Moon bases.
Engineering with what you have.
Real paths in a real industry.
Mission success means working together.
Breaking big problems into smaller ones.
Asking the right questions.
Putting all the subsystems together.
Camp options are loaded from the camps table. Two half-day programs run each weekday at the Riverbend Community Centre, or choose the full-day combo.
A practical group-based course introducing emerging space technologies, additive manufacturing, 3D printing and robotic construction.
A comprehensive program covering launchpad, lunar mining, and temporary and permanent habitats.
The complete Moon Base experience: PreLaunch Science in the morning, lunch break, then the Moonbase Mission in the afternoon.
Spaces are limited - small group sizes keep things hands-on. Save your spot early.
Matrix GEMINI is the only Canadian company working on Moon Base, Space Mining & Lunar Infrastructure - and a global award winner for lunar infrastructure and Moon base design with the MIT Aurelia Institute and European Moon Village Association.
The instructional content in this outreach program is developed as part of the outcomes of a three-year research collaboration with the University of Alberta and Polytechnique Montreal, where Matrix GEMINI serves as industrial partner.
The Matrix GEMINI team is honored to pass some of that team enthusiasm and knowledge to the next generation of young engineers.
